Setting Intentions for Moms: A Simple 3-Step Method to Stay Aligned

April is here, and with it comes that gentle nudge to hit “reset.” Maybe it’s the longer days, the fresh air, or the spring cleaning energy — but something about this month makes us crave more clarity, more calm, and a better rhythm.
But if you’re a working mom, “goal setting” can sometimes feel like just another box to check. Another thing on a very long list. And that’s not the vibe we’re going for here.
At Efitmi, we believe in intentions over pressure. It’s not about hustling harder — it’s about aligning your day-to-day life with how you want to feel. Setting intentions is like creating gentle guideposts, not strict rules. They help you reconnect with your own needs (yes, those still matter!) and move through life with more intention, ease, and joy.
Think of it like this:
Goals say, “I need to get there.”
Intentions say, “This is how I want to feel while I’m getting there.”

On a Personal Note...
When I started the year, I had a few clear goals for my business. One of them was to post a YouTube video every month, and another was to post daily on Instagram. Now that we’re in April, I’ve actually kept up with YouTube — three videos in three months! But the Instagram part? Not so much.
And here’s the truth: posting on Instagram daily has started to feel… intimidating. Like I need to be perfectly curated, constantly strategizing, worrying about engagement, aesthetics, and timing. It doesn’t feel natural right now.
But YouTube? It’s felt so freeing. I just speak and let it flow. No pressure to go viral, no need to overthink. It feels like a space where I can actually connect — with myself and with you. That’s the thing about intentions — sometimes you don’t even realize something is out of alignment until you pause and check in. I’ve realized that my words for this month (and probably this season) are connected and energized. And if I want to honor those feelings, it means letting go of the "shoulds" and embracing what actually feels good.
So if you’re feeling the same — like some of your January goals need an April refresh — you’re not alone. Let’s reset together.
Setting Intentions for Staying Aligned
Step 1: Pause and Reflect
Ask yourself: What’s working? What’s draining me?
Before jumping into goals or to-dos, take a breath and check in. Pour a cup of coffee or tea, and give yourself a few quiet moments to reflect.
Try journaling or just mentally answering:
What felt good in March?
What was too much?
What do I want more of this month?
Efitmi Tip: Keep a “one-line-a-day” notebook. Even jotting one word about your day can spark clarity.
Step 2: Choose Your 3 "Feel-Good Focus" Words
Instead of goals, pick 3 words to guide your energy.
Examples:
Calm
Energized
Present
Connected
Light
Nourished
These words become your north star. You can filter decisions, routines, and boundaries through them. Ask: Does this support “calm”? Does this move me toward feeling “present”?
Efitmi Challenge: Write your 3 words on a sticky note or set them as your phone lock screen.
Step 3: Anchor One Tiny Habit
Pick one doable habit that aligns with your intention. It should take less than 10 minutes and feel like a gift, not a chore.
Ideas:
Morning stretch before checking your phone
5-minute evening tidy with music
Daily walk with the kids (or solo!)
Saying “no” once a week to something that drains you
Efitmi Mindset: Your habit doesn’t need to be big. It just needs to be yours.
Final Thoughts
This isn’t about doing more. It’s about feeling more like you. April is a fresh start, but you don’t need to overhaul your life. With a few minutes of reflection, 3 guiding words, and one small anchor habit, you're already aligned.
You’ve got this, mama. And Efitmi is cheering you on every step of the way.
