Mid-Year Check-In: What If the Shift Is the Plan?

We’re halfway through 2025, and I don’t know about you, but this year didn’t unfold quite the way I imagined it would.

MID YEAR CHECK IN. GOAL PLANNING, ALLOWING GOD TO LEAD EFITMI LIFESTYLE

At the start of the year, I wrote about setting new goals, starting fresh, and walking into the year with intention. I had a clear plan in my head — more journals, more planners, more books. That was the vision. I even wrote it down.

But then, God gently redirected me.

The Lazy Mom’s Guide to Motherhood wasn’t even part of my original plan. The idea started off as something totally different. The original concept was centered on setting boundaries, learning to say no, and reclaiming our time. But as I leaned into the process, God placed something else on my heart. Something deeper. Something softer. Something that looked like rest, surrender, and grace.

So I followed it.

Now I look back and realize — this is the book I was meant to write all along.

Sometimes we start the year thinking we know exactly what we’re building. We have our vision boards, our journals, our step-by-step outlines. And those things are good. We’re supposed to plan. The Bible even tells us to write the vision and make it plain.

But we’re not supposed to get so attached to the plan that we leave no room for redirection.

Sometimes, the unexpected shift is the plan.

So if you’re looking at your goals and feeling discouraged, let this be your reminder: You’re allowed to pivot.

You’re allowed to pause.

You’re allowed to follow the nudge, even if it leads you somewhere new.

What if the very thing that interrupted your plan is the thing that leads you closer to your purpose?

Take a breath.

Check in with your heart.

And don’t be afraid to start fresh, even if it’s July.
