Week 4 After Quitting My Job | Faith, Entrepreneurship, and Unexpected Breakthroughs

It’s officially been one month since I quit my job after 11 years. And if I had to describe this week in one word, it would be:
stretching.
Not just in business.
But mentally. Emotionally. Spiritually.
Because this week reminded me of something I didn’t fully understand before:
You can do the work… and still not control the outcome.

The week started with a loss I didn’t expect
Just before the Easter holiday, I lost my purse.
Not just any purse. The one with my cards. My ID. Even my mother’s bank cards.
And to make things worse, it happened right before a four-day holiday. So even if I wanted to fix everything immediately, I couldn’t.
For days, I searched.
Nothing.
By Tuesday, I had accepted that I would need to:
Report my license as lost
Replace all my bank cards
Start the long process of getting everything back
And if you’ve ever had to replace documents, you know… It’s not quick.
The moment that shifted everything
That Tuesday morning, I reached a point where I just stopped trying to control the situation.
I prayed.
Not one of those “God, please fix this exactly how I want it” prayers. But a different kind.
One where I was honest about how I felt… and at the same time willing to accept whatever the outcome would be.
And in that moment, I had a realization:
Faith is not believing that things will go your way. Faith is trusting God, even if they don’t.
Shortly after that… I found the purse.
Just like that. After days of searching.
I can’t fully explain it, but the feeling reminded me of the biblical parable of the lost coin. That deep sense of relief and joy when something you thought was gone is restored. But more than that, it left me with something deeper than relief.
It left me with clarity.
I’m learning that I don’t control outcomes
This lesson didn’t just apply to the purse. It applies to everything I’m building right now.
Since leaving my job, I’ve been working on:
Building my freelance coaching business
Reaching out to potential clients
Creating my coaching materials
Trying to position myself in the market
And if I’m being honest, there have been moments where I’ve questioned:
Am I doing enough?
Am I ready?
Is this even going to work?
But this week reminded me of something important:
My responsibility is effort.
The outcome is not mine to control.
That shift alone brings a different kind of peace.
A breakthrough I didn’t expect
While all of this was happening, something else happened too.
I got my first real inquiry.
Not from a big campaign.
Not from consistent posting.
Not from a perfectly planned funnel.
From my email signature.
Someone reached out via WhatsApp asking about sales coaching services.
Simple.
Unexpected.
And honestly, encouraging. Because it showed me something I needed to see:
Opportunities don’t always come from where you expect them. Sometimes they come from the quiet work you’ve already done.
Building quietly still counts
This week wasn’t loud.
There wasn’t a lot of visible content.
There weren’t big public wins.
But behind the scenes, I was:
Continuing outreach
Refining my coaching materials
Preparing for potential clients
Thinking through my offers more clearly
And I’m starting to understand that building a business after quitting your job isn’t always visible. Sometimes the most important work happens where no one sees it.
I created something to help others start from scratch
One thing I’m especially excited about is something I’ve been quietly working on. It’s a simple tool called the “Starting from Scratch Direction Finder.” It’s designed to help you identify three possible directions you can take if you’re trying to:
Start a side income
Build something of your own
Or eventually replace your full-time job
If you’ve been feeling stuck or unsure about where to start, this will help you get clarity. I’ll also be reviewing responses and giving personalized suggestions based on what you submit.
You can access it through the link in the video.
Watch the full Week 4 update
I shared this entire experience in more detail in my Week 4 video, including:
The full story behind losing (and finding) my purse
What I’m learning about faith and control
The unexpected client inquiry
What I’m working on behind the scenes
You can watch it here:
My focus going into the next week
Going into the next week, my focus is simple:
Increase my outreach
Continue refining my offers
Stay consistent, even when results aren’t immediate
I’ve set a goal to secure my first client by April 30th. And I’m trusting God with the process.
If you’re in a similar season
If you’re:
Thinking about leaving your job
Starting a business
Trying to build something from scratch
Or just feeling uncertain about your next step
I want to encourage you with this:
Do the work.
But don’t carry the weight of trying to control everything.
Because some of the most important things will come in ways you didn’t plan. And sometimes, right when you’re ready to give up control…
That’s when things start to fall into place.
