EFITMI, was derived from the Jamaican expression, "eh fit mi", which is usually said when confirming that something (usually clothing) fits appropriately. I decided to use this term to describe a brand I was creating that would specialize in fitness apparel. My good friend and one of my biggest supporters was actually the person who came up with the name. I remember we were at work sitting at my desk, and I was telling her about my newest idea to start a fitness apparel line. I tasked her with helping me to come up with a name, and after throwing several back and forth, efitmi hit home. It just felt right.

I then went on to register my first official business, EFITMI Brands, an online store that sells waist trainers, shapewear, and work out clothing. I had a website, did an Instagram store and the works. I launched on August 31st, 2022, my birthday. I felt pumped. It made sense to me to do this, after all, there must be a lot of women like me who are trying to get rid of the baby pooch. They would see what I'm offering and jump on it. Turns out, it's not that easy. I was not getting the traction I thought I would get and so I went back to brainstorm ideas. I hosted an intimate gathering for my birthday with a group of some of my closest friends. It went great, we all enjoyed ourselves. So the idea came to me to host an event. After all, I planned and executed a party for eight ladies and it was successful so planning a bigger event shouldn't be that hard, right? For the event, I wanted to create a space for women to come and be pampered. A space for just them, brunch with mimosas, an outdoor spa, good food, dancing, the works. And so, EFITMI Events was born (Yes, I'm really carrying this name).
EFITMI Events would be my events planning business and our first event was to be called FEMZ, a female only brunch and pool party. I was excited. This event would create a space to promote my business and I even got other small businesses on board. I had a team, a space, I had a popular host, a popular DJ, what could go wrong? Turns out everything could. I won't bore you with the details of it, just know, it didn't go according to plan. The space I reserved canceled two days prior to the event, I lost all the down-payments I made on other areas and had a ton of decor items taking up a good deal of space in my already small home. The bittersweet part of this was the ticket sales were so low that I literally had to make about four phone calls to deliver the news. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I felt deflated. I lost interest in the fitness business as well and to end 2022 with a bang, I discovered I was pregnant with my second child while my first was just two years old.
Fast forward to 2023, I'm not sure when or how it started but I am watching a lot of home decor videos. I've always had an interest in home decor but never really took the time to work on the house I was now living in. Mainly because it's suppose to be a temporary living arrangement and I didn't want to spend money on upgrades unless I had to. But what you focus on, you expand. Since I was consistently watching these videos, I started a board on pinterest and before I knew it, I was adding items to my cart on Amazon. Thus my home improvement journey started. I then decided that I am going to give the space we live in some personality. My family is the first to live in the space so we pretty much had everything builder grade and while it was a house it needed a "woman's touch" to feel more like a home. My friend again, suggested that I video the process and so I started to video as I made the upgrades. After almost completing the kitchen and falling in love with how it transformed after a few DIY's. I decided I needed to share this... and so EFITMI Lifestyle was born.
